Sergio is part of the 30 candidate shortlist of nominees to receive the award presented by France Football magazine. This year, the winner will be selected exclusively by football journalists, after the FIFA and the publication ended their agreement. The player recognised as the best footballer from among this shortlist will be granted the award. Kun stands among other players such as his team-mate Kevin De Bruyne, as well as Lionel Messi, Aubameyang, Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Antoine Griezman.
