Three days before the World Cup finals, Sergio visited his former national squad team-mates in the University of Doha to see the pre-match exercises. Kun even had a chance to be fitted with their gear and to join the national team in working out and practicing penalty shoot-outs.

Kun's participation in these exercises comes exactly 1 year later after he retired from professional football – and highlights his lasting bonds with Argentina's senior squad, who welcomed him with open arms. Sergio had previously stated: "I'm really happy to see them wear these colors. From the outside, I really enjoy watching them play and seeing them as close as ever. That's what I like the most... it makes me feel present even if I'm not there."
